Overview of how the EEF connects community and activities into a communication approach.
There are many neighborhoods in our community which make up the Erlang Ecosystem. The challenge for the EEF is to foster awareness across the community of interconnected work, research, problems, solutions and our shared destiny. There is a threshold between collaborative neighborhoods and social/technical fragmentation. The objective is to foster the former and combat the latter.
To that end, the EEF Community Working Group (formerly Marketing Working Group), has the primary mission to build interconnection between components of the overall community.
Plan
Branding
Create and shepard a unified brand that reuses visuals across all media accounts and eef sources
Media stratgy
Create a cross media presence and regular cadence of content that is both interesting and advances the community cohesion goal.
Topics
- Sponsor initiation, renewal, creating product/service awareness for mutual benefit
- Working group news
- Non-EEF events (date announcements, releasing schedules, releasing media)
- EEF community events
- Stipend milestones (start, releases, outcomes)
- Strategic and Visionary induction
- Security, packaging releases, notifications
- Web Article releases, interview releases
- Podcast announcements
- Some technical news (high profile, possibly reposting only to amplify)
- Event highlights, from meetups and others
- Industry events, collaboration, EEF representation at
- EEF Board elections
- EEF membership
- EEF volunteer profiles
- EEF stipend recipient videos
Events
Build toward global stand-alone regional events that are community oriented, supported, and run. Currently limited to major conference companion Unconferences.
Annual General Meeting
Produce, collect year’s events, topics, media for playback during AGM
Web Strategy
Using unified branding, represent all topics as web accessible content (media posts all backed by web content EEF owns or community owns via other sources)
Develop better ways to integrate topics, media accounts (possibly pull media posts into the web as well as organizing content by posting calendar so long term discovery is possible). Federate community sources through some kind of syndication that drives traffic to other sites and EEF sites offer good entry point.
Calendar, events
Double down on iCal publishing for all things:
- Events
- Meetings
- Releases
- Anniversaries
Maximize time federation and outbound linkages.
